Oriental sore or localized CL appears on the site of the sandfly bite after approximately 2–4 weeks. The lesion begins as an asymptomatic papule, which enlarges and forms a well-circumscribed ulcer with a raised violaceous border. The lesion spontaneously resolves over a period of months, leaving a depressed scar.
