For $15, we had hoped for a better functioning bottle from CamelBak. Due to lower scores in a few of our metrics, we can’t say the eddy is an exceptional value. That said, if you think the straw feature will encourage you to drink more water, then this could be a very worthy investment.

If your eddy+ bottle is leaking, you might have an object trapped in the vent valve. Turn the cap over, and look under the round, grey, rubber flap. If you carefully peel back the rubber seal and clean out the inner workings of the vent valve, the leak should stop.

You don’t need to do this very often if you using your Camelbak regularly and are sure to dry it out well after trips. I like to wash mine about every 3 to 6 months. HOWEVER, if you put anything besides water into your reservoir (like electrolytes or anything with sugar) make sure to clean out your Camelbak afterwards.

DON’T DO IT. use your Nalgene for Gatorade, protein drink mixes, or NUUN or other electrolyte mixtures. Nalgenes are so much easier to clean.

What can I use instead of a CamelBak?
You can buy a glass straw which is perfect size to replace the plastic one and if you are like me and not keen on the mouthpiece you can buy a glass mouthpiece as well. I ordered both from them and had them in less than a week and they finish the CamelBak off perfectly.
